I gained my degree in Fine Art from Manchester College of Art in 1971. My specialism was Fine Art ( Painting and Print-Making )... my inspiration textures and mark making.

I came to clay almost by chance after leaving college...it's versatility has been a constant source of exploration and experimentation, and I have been totally absorbed with the material ever since.
My work is usually thrown, textured then thrown again to emphasize the fractured surfaces. Textures might be created by applying slips, powdered clay, organic material or by just impressing other decorated surfaces. On second throwing the forms are often altered then other markings introduced creating a more painterly surface.
My Fine Art back ground ensures that each piece produced is really a painting on a three dimensional surface.... the intent to bring more unique, artistic qualities to everyday useable objects.
