"I am first and foremost a functional potter. Everything I do revolves around this, whether it's the placement of the handle or a dripless spout, right down to the claybody and glazes used. I find great satisfaction creating art that can be used daily on a personal basis. My forms are difficult to achieve without a lot of sculpting and carving away. But I am a sculptor at heart, and the results, I hope , are appreciated and recognized by regular folks and not just trained craftsmen and artists."
