This is the largest of an 8 bowl set that sit in each other, thrown from 1 to 8 lb of clay. Each bowl is decorated with an English wild flower, growing in size from the primrose through to the wild rose. It represents the end of a 8 year project to achieve bright primary colours on a high fired body, that can be used in a domestic environment (dishwasher/oven proof). The rose stalk is one continuous winding line, entering and leaving the inside of the bowl.
I am a follower of the Yasuda theory... that the serving "ceremony" at the eating table, from a large communal vessel, is central to, and reflects, the basic moral values of western society.
