Courses can be standard or tailored to requirements for complete beginners through to intermediate level.

Bentham Pottery offers courses in the Yorkshire Dales, close to the village of Ingleton. Learn about throwing, slab-building, pressmoulding, coiling, slip decorating and glazing under the guidance of Lee & Kathy Cartledge, who between them have over 50 years experience of craftmanship and production thrown stoneware pottery.

2, 3 & 5 day adult pottery courses teaching handbuilding, modelling & sculpting techniques.
The courses focus on the human figure and animal forms and with class sizes limited to 6 we are able to offer a very good level of 1:1 coaching. The courses are suitable for all ability levels and provide for a motivational, challenging and enjoyable experience.

We are available to come into schools to work with children on large or small projects - working with either a small group or the whole class on topics which fit into the National Curriculum


We are equipped for schools to visit the pottery, which normally includes a demonstration of pottery techniques and an opportunity for the children to make something. (Max attendance: 30)

We also help teachers to develop their own pottery skills and have led several INSET courses.
