Craftsman Magazine at Potfest in the Pens

Craftsman Magazine, first launched almost 25 years ago and still run by its founders, Angie and Paul Boyer, is a monthly publication for craft makers and their businesses as well as those who enjoy buying craft work. With a comprehensive diary of UK craft events & organisers, business advice from the experts, interviews with craftmakers, organisers, suppliers and galleries, news and reviews, directories and listings…. Craftsman Magazine provides an invaluable source of inspiration, information and ideas for all craftmakers. Each year the July issue has a special Pottery and Ceramics theme within it – the July 2006 front cover article featured the work of studio potter Nick Williams, winner of the Craftsman Magazine Award at Potfest in the Pens 2005, and the July 2007 issue will feature the Northumbrian Craft Potters, winners of the 2006 award.

Craftsman Magazine Award at Potfest in the Pens
Craftsman Magazine is proud to present an award each year at Potfest in the Pens. In 2005, when the theme was "Cylindrical Form" , Angie and Paul selected a piece by Nick Williams entitled "Hear My Train A Comin’" as their winner – a quirky teapot which had been made specially for the Potfest competition.
The 2007 theme is (yet to be announced) – and once again, one of the main points that Angie and Paul will be looking for is work which has been specially created for the competition. The annual Potfest competition, which has a different theme each year, gives makers a great opportunity to make something they would not usually produce, inspiration to branch out into new areas with techniques and finishes as well as style, so judging takes that into account as well as quality of design and craftsmanship. The Winner is presented with a Certificate at the show plus a bottle of Champagne to celebrate with – and the all important front cover feature in Craftsman Magazine. www.craftsman-magazine.com
