Julie Miles

Feathers, leaves, pine needles and cones gathered as I walk through the landscape have become a valuable inspiration for my work - they begin to evoke a sense of place, a smell, a sound, a memory.
These feathers and leaves symbolise a greater presence in the landscape ; a forest or a bird of prey. Each element provokes a different interpretation, reflecting the uniqueness of personal experience and memories of landscape.

I have selected elements which speak of the fragility of nature, and the transformations of the landscape through the changing seasons, and preserved their image using the medium of ceramics. JULIE MILES
